RailStaff Awards – oh what a night!

Our guests were welcomed in to the Rail Seventeen Club with a Long Island Tea cocktail served in our very own souvenir cups and saucers. Then they were whisked off in a 1920’s New York Street, full of lamps, crates and street signs.

After the drinks reception, Fat Tony opened his Speakeasy and our guests went in for a wonderful 4 course meal. Then Fat Tony welcomed on stage, the hoofers of the Rail Seventeen Club, who dazzled our guests with their stunning Charleston moves. We were then on to the main event, the Awards. What worthy winners we had! When David Maidment received his Lifetime Achievement award there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

Unfortunately, the awards didn’t go quite to plan. Half way through, the cops raided the place! After a fight, a trial and a shoot out, the place was calm once more and we could continue with the remainder of the awards.  After the awards, Fully Funktional rocked the house and if our guests didn’t want to dance, they could lose some green in the Gambler’s Den.

Huge congratulations to all our winners. You have joined the very exclusive RailStaff Awards Winner’s Club!

Want to join us next year? Then don’t delay, early bird tickets are on sale now.

We’re off on a daytrip to Long Marston

On Friday 16th September we’ll be heading over to the Rail Alliance as they throw open their doors at the Long Marston Railways Storage facility near Stratford on Avon for Macro Rail 2011.

They’ve invited the rail industry to come along and look at over 50 of their member companies demonstrating and exhibiting their products and services, for free – that’s right up our street, so we’ll be there.

The former MOD facility was used as a logistical depot for the D-Day Landings has been used as a railway storage facility for over 1000 pieces of rolling stock for the last few years and has over 20 miles of private track with 125 run offs and sidings.

Rail Alliance members will be carrying out live exhibitions around the depot facility, the track area and inside one of the hangars.

Confirmed so far are live welding demonstrations, tamping machine demonstrations, vegetation embankment control and a new road rail shunting machine.

So, we’ll see you there from 10am to 4pm – speak to Rhona Clarke on 01789 720 026 (info@railalliance.co.uk) for more information.
